Merilia was now feeling
that she was very near to an end. It was about to end or begin.
Everything. Met's and Meri's lives, Oria and Kara, The Skin System,
Virtual Life Resistance, matter, mass, energy, space, three
dimensions, time, life, spirit, questions and answers, moments and
lives, pasts and futures. Which one was the intersection? Was it a
point or moment? Was it both or none of them? A question was growing
in her mind.
"Can we explain
everything as a function of m,x,y,z,t? Or should we add an s? The
spirit of life?"
What was the position and
time of "Virtual Life Resistance" in all those? What was
Kara's and her Skin System's place?
Who was Kara?
All the records of time
and space were now mixed in a blurry image of Meri's mind. Had she
met Kara actually before? Had she met Metilius actually before? Which
connection were to be stronger? The first one, or the distinctive
one? Meri believed that she had met Met before Kara. Was this true?
If it was true, was this sufficient to make Meri the special one in
Met's life?
A letter appeared in
Meri's mind. A small letter, "c". Where was the place of
this small letter in all these.
Meri tried to remember the
history. The increasing speed of human civilizations. Exact dates
were not important. They had started with walking and running with
their own, natural legs. Then they had used animals and wheels to
increase their speed. Discovering the meaning of energy, flying with
artificial tools imitating birds and dragonflies were other critical
stages of their voyage in space and time. They were now able to
progress towards removing the limits of gravity and their bonds with
natural earth. They imagined flying to the moon and drilling towards
to the center of the moon. It was a long, an extremely long, a too
long journey. Was it the beginning of their end?
The first character set of
data symbols were probably some lines forming the figures in caves.
The progress of record management improved quickly with alphabet,
language, printing press, typewriters, mechanical and electrical
transmission, smoke signal, telegraphy, computer, cellular phone, and
F-com. Meri did not remember when the full communicator was first
introduced. It was in a violent competition age. Almost every single
person in the world was trying to sell something to others. Full
communicator had brought a rapid change. All the information and
knowledge became instantly accessible and usable with F-com. It was
no more useful to make marketing calls and visits to the customers.
They already knew everything to make their own decisions to choose
and procure useful products for themselves. F-com was delivering
perfect answers to them. This was the result of their new
communication system at the speed of light. CALS was operating at c,
some people were using c-com instead of F-com.
The consequences of the
new system did not appear instantly. Everything changed gradually.
All natural and human processes were defined again. As communication
characteristics changed, resource processing and utilization types
also faced a dramatical change. Real and virtual gained new meanings
in a combined universe. HNI became the core concept of the new age.
Meri was among the others believing that they had to use less actual
resources in their relations with nature. They were defending the
spiritual interpretation of the Human Nature Interface, and trying to
develop a spiritual interface between humans and nature. The others
were insisting on using and keeping the actual material contact
between living species and the universe. It was obvious that this
approach would not be survivable with current mechanisms. The idea
behind Kara's system was using minimum amount of material for maximum
impact. She had tested her findings for quite a long time on her own
body and her relations with others. Although her organic life had
been completed, she was still alive with her skin. Was she really
alive?
Meri felt too tired. She
was never strong enough to defend her desires in every occasion. She
needed positive arguments to reach a conclusion. She needed reasons,
meanings, feelings. Being powerful and immortal was not the purpose
of life. Life was forgetting the reasons and costs of life. Life was
living. Only living. If it were a defined game, the target would be
"being happy as long and as much as possible with as less as
less resources in minimum time". She thought about her life. She
was ready to die. Although she was not able to be with her parents
for a long period, she had strong memories about them. Her life with
Oria was good, but her relation with Met was a meaning of life for
her. She would be very happy to solve this complex puzzle, to limit
Kara's power, and live together with Met and other members of the new
system of the world. But what she had already lived was also good for
her. She was ready to die. But there were still children waiting for
their future. Meri was caring their future. She wanted to be sure
that they were safe and they would be safe. She therefore did not
want to leave before limiting Kara's power, or terminating her system
completely.
Who was Kara?
She was absolutely not as
horrible as violent figures of history. She was much better then the
past power slaves like Taipidos giving terrible pains to others for
their reign. She could never harm a baby or a child. She would do
everything to protect them. She would never do anything she did not
believe. She was always ready to review her thought and decision
system, and accept anything argued and shown clearly. However, there
were some irresolvable conflicts between her and Meri. Kara would
never understand and see the spirit of the universe. For Meri, the
only meaning of life was feeling that spring. The power of life was
not only to be born. It was also to die. To die when you are full of
memories and ready to go. Remembering what you have lived and done,
and what your children will live with the traces you will leave
behind.
Who was Kara?
She was the most
intelligent brain of the period Meri was in. In case they had worked
together, either Skin System or Virtual Human Nature Interface would
have gone much further. They were now vital opponents. Meri was
feeling that they had a complex relation of love and hatred. Could
their lives would be different if Kara could be able to have a happy
relation with Met? Could Meri and Oria be connected again in a new
system? Could they all be able to work together to combine all
positive features of the two systems? Why was this couldn't be even
negotiable?
Who was Kara?
Kara was the most
successful leader of the history. But she had not future. She hadn't
had a child. It was difficult for Meri to understand this. It
couldn't be a technical problem. Kara could be able find hundreds of
ways and have thousands of children if she wanted. She was not
willing to do that. She didn't want to have a baby to represent her
future with his or her own way. Why?
Meri looked at Met, hugged
him, kissed him, caressed him, she tried to touch every point of his
skin and his soul.
"I love you Met,"
she said. "I love you my dear, I love you my darling, I love
you, I love you." She looked at him expecting to notice a
response. There was nothing.
"I want a baby,"
said Meri. She desperately searched a meaning in Met's eyes.
