Meri remembered the
studies, discussions, applications, findings, and realization
processes on human verification systems that she had listened to from
his father and she later practiced during her works. At the
beginning, it was not much difficult to identify the primitive
applications of artificial intelligence. People from a wide range of
age, profession, and culture were easily passing the tests while even
the best AI units were almost always failing. However, as the
technologies developed, humans started facing difficulties. They were
not able to learn as fast as AI, and the systems were changing too
fast making them difficult to use for humans. There was an easy
solution though, all the stages of the systems were managed by AI,
starting from the initial vague idea to the final removal and closing
phase. But there was one system which had always personally had to be
used by humans. Passing the complex algorithms to prove they are not
a robot. One of the HVS, Human Verification System versions had
brought the end of Meri’s father’s professional life. He was
still young and he could work much longer to contribute to the
systems he was specialized in, but he was no longer able to pass HVS
tests and he was not able to access his own work area and the giant
datasets he had created. Meri had not seen his father in such a
desperate situation before. With a very sad look on his face and a
deep sorrow in his eyes he had said:
“I am not a robot!
But I can’t prove that.”
He was not old but also
not young enough to see and understand the subtle tricks placed to
distinguish humans from robots. Meri had tried to help her father,
with her hints his father has been able to pass the test for several
times, but he were not able to gain confidence again and continue.
After a while, he gave up.
“Robots can pass
the test now, I can’t. I refuse to work in such a world. I will
retire and watch robots playing with humans.”
Meri hugged her father and
kissed him.
“You know, AI
system has many features created by your own daughter. I can’t
believe AI can be more skillful in playing with humans than humans
are skillful in playing with other humans. They play also with all
living and nonliving elements of the nature, of the universe."
His father hugged Meri
looking at her with loving eyes.
“My beautiful,
genius, good girl. I wish the world and other humans could be as
perfect as you. I have serious doubts that there are inwards and
outwards leakages in our central management system. I am not sure
about anything now. But I know you will do your best to keep the
future in acceptable limits. I will try to support you as long as I
live. I wish I could work more to improve the system and make the
remaining work easier for you.”
“I know you are
not a robot,” said Meri.
“Tell HVS to
understand this then, maybe AI can hear and understand her or his
creator.”
They both laughed. They
were both worried about their future. Meri was feeling that her
father was staying behind. She had never wanted to go further than
her father, but this had happened. She would now try to carry what
she could get from his father to the future.
“I will find a way
of making AI understand who you are.”
They smiled with tears in
their eyes.
