Merilia felt something
unusual. She was again surfing through Met's memories as she had been
doing for quite a long time, but this time it was different. It was
not like she was witnessing to something happened in the past. She
thought she was now watching Kara's current intentions on Met's
recorded mind in his skin. Could it be possible? It was obviously
not. Meri remembered how many times she had witnessed the realization
of impossible during her life. She proudly smiled when she remembered
her own success stories. She was not seeing Kara, she was not hearing
her voice, she was not smelling her magic and atmosphere she had
created, she was not tasting the pleasure she distributed through
matter and spirit channels, she was not reading a story written in
six dimensions. She had not still convinced herself to put Met's Skin
on herself and go through deeper investigations. Level by level, she
had learned and witnessed more about who Kara was, and what she had
made. It was not easy to understand, it was not definable, it was not
expressible with known tools, it was not perceivable with developed
means, it did not give a usual type of impression. It was just an
odd, strange, bizarre, weird, eccentric, exotic, a complex and
intermixed smell of truth or vacuum. Merilia could not understand
where this stimulation came from, but it was so strong that she
couldn't ignore. She had no other choice than tightly holding the
clue and
tracing as far as possible
to the furthest end. It was almost the worst and the most difficult
part of all her missions. She had nothing; not any single word, an
image, a sound, a pattern of a smell or a taste or a contact. She
even did not have a defined combination of traces from these details.
She had nothing absolutely. Nothing but an unknown feeling.
Thinking in her own mind
games was not useful. Merilia started surfing in the memories of
Met's Skin arbitrarily. She ran from far past years to first hints of
Met's conscious, from ancient history
to experimental future
sociology, from analytical psychology to abstract brain science. She
tried to reach everything Met had in his mind before and after he Met
Kara. She was not able to find
anything at the beginning,
but the feeling she had in her soul started to change while she was
surfing. With each new peace of meaningful information, she slightly
evolved. She started to see
and understand everything
differently. She still did not have an answer for the feeling, but
she was approaching to a conceptional definition of what she is
after, at each step.
Finally, it was there. The
result was more than Meri could expect. It was a universal meeting. A
meeting where Kara would put all her intentions, goals and requests
forward for a final and eternal
victory. A meeting where
she would declare indisputable and untouchable power of the Skin
System.
The feeling was now more
clear but it was giving too much pain. Meri was now seeing why Met
was so important for Kara. Yes, Kara was desperately in love with Met
but this was not a love story. It was even not a life story. It was
an attempt to write the last story of the human universe. A story of
Kara's victory. The story of the victory of death against any form of
human consciousness.
Meri was surprised to feel
an extreme pain in her mind. She suspected for a moment if she had
already put Met's Skin on herself for a deeper investigation, but she
absolutely had not tried that.
She had not wanted to take
a risk before knowing Kara and the Skin System as much as possible.
"You little bitch,"
said Kara. "Do you think I will allow you destroy everything I
worked to achieve for centuries? You think you are smart enough to
understand everything, even Kara, don't you?"
Meri tried to keep her
tranquility. She well knew that Kara was a person of matter only. As
long as Meri was away from direct contact with Skin System, Kara
could do nothing to Meri. She was now just trying to affect Meri with
some primitive mind games. Meri did not want to use all her power.
She did not want Kara to see all her limits. She tried to endure
Kara's attacks as long as possible, she ignored Kara's pleasure she
noticed in her voice when she said:
"You will understand
who I am. I know you and Met are different then anyone in the Skin
System. But you will see I and Oria are also very special. We also
understand the past clearly and see the
future like you see. Your
only choice is to join us. We can build together the best for all
human beings, for all species we know, we can reach the limits of the
universe as see beyond."
While Kara was talking,
Meri's pain decreased gradually. Kara was not insisting more to
control Meri. She was expecting her to change and join the Skin
System voluntarily.
"I am sorry Meri,"
said Kara. "In fact, I was only intending to send an invitation
for you."
An image appeared in
Meri's mind. "Perfect Life with Skin System. Trends and
Opportunities for Volatile Interaction in Near Future."
Meri looked at the
information sent by Kara carefully. It was surprising to see the word
"volatile" together with the "Skin System". Maybe
this was an indicator showing why Met was so important for Kara. With
all her power and control through the "Skin System" to
cover almost all elements of accessible universe, was she aware that
something was missing and would always be
missing? Did she
desperately need Met's love for herself, and his ideas for the Skin
System? Was is it a spirit of her own that she wanted to take or
steal from Met and Meri? Was it the power of
light she wanted to
include in the Skin System with her invasion of Merimet?
