It was a legend.
Meri could never remember
when she first heard about it. It was a legend before her, and it
would be another legend after her. It was a giant and complex legend
known by everybody but understood by nobody.
Meri was happy to be part
of the final project, but she had never seen her colleagues. she
never saw. She had never seen heard about Kara although they had
worked on the opposite parts of the final project separately for long
periods and locations of time. Although she was one the four abstract
conceptual designer of the project, she had also never heard about
the other three leaders also. One of the basic rules of the project
was working independently using anonymously created pieces of data,
information, knowledge, matter, image, sound, concept, method,
algorithm, process, color, light, vibration, wave, energy, and other
forms yet not defined.
Her fate could be
different if she had met Met before Oria. Oria had been a great, but
unfinished experience for her. But if she had met Met first, they
could have a perfect common project. The Final Project could also
find a different route to progress.
Would it be so? Meri was
not sure about that. Kara seemed to see everywhere and to hear every
single piece of voice. It would be very difficult to hide Met from
her, and the same story would probably be written in the same way.
The purpose of the final
project was to create a controllable universe designed to make all
members happy at optimum levels. The first discussion in the
development phase was on the definition of happiness. When humans
were accepted as the main customer of the project, it was relatively
easy to make definitions and determine the limits. However, most of
the people involved in the project in Level Draft, were willing the
project to satisfy the needs of all parties in the Universe. It was a
difficult task both technically and socially. It was very difficult
to define a feasible model representing the entire system and the
designers were tending to protect their own interests. So long
discussions had started.
After long discussions
about many different final projects in long periods of time and wide
expansions in space, the various opinions evolved and resulted in a
clearly defined single conflict. What would the main target of the
final project be? Would it be protecting the shapes of the materials,
or would it be recording their transformations and reflections as
images? Although they had never discussed directly, Meri and Kara
knew the details of the progress of the discussion perfectly so that
they could remember it as it they had talked to eachother.
Meri remembered the final
discussion of the last of the final projects. She remembered the end
of the "Final Project".
"I need to touch
life," said Kara. "I can't live without touching the soil,
feeling the wind while walking under the trees, leaving myself in the
ocean of the Universe, swimming together with other forms of life,
touching them, taking from them, giving to them, playing with them,
understanding them, hugging them, kissing them, loving them."
"I need to feel
life," said Meri. "I can feel life without touching the
soil. I can feel the wind without walking under the trees but just
closing my eyes. I can reach the ocean of the Universe while my eyes
are still closed. I can communicate with other forms of life and
touch them through the energy interface. I don't need take from them
and give anything to them. I don't own anything. They don't have
anything. We are everything and nothing. We have everything and
nothing. I can play with every detail of the Universe in my mind, I
can reach the limits of time and space through energy interface. I
can understand and hug the entire universe. I can love. I can kiss
all I love. I can be all I love. I can be the entire universe. I am
not a hair, I am not a skin. I am a spirit inside my life."
It was not easy to trace
all the past discussions on the "Final Project". There were
too many pieces of information in the past space and time records.
There were also conceptual models representing the basic mechanisms
created through the long discussions, case studies, preliminary
designs, detailed application units, initial tests, reviews,
developments, and other sources giving understandable views of "The
Final Project".
It was a legend which had
come true. Kara's Skin System was about to complete the invasion of
the Universe. "The Skin System" had gained perfect control
on matter and energy, they were able to transform anything to
anything they want. Their wide channels were carrying necessary
molecules, light, and heat to anywhere in the Skin System. All the
people living in one of the skins of Kara's System were happy. Meri
and Met were not happy. Many humans trying to find a meaning in their
lives were not happy. Life was not matter. Life was not energy. Life
was not anger. Life was not hatred. Life was love.
Meri hugged and kissed
Met. There were tears in her eyes.
"Help me Oria,"
she thought. "I love Met. I love you. I love all the people in
our connected minds. I even love Kara. But she doesn't have a future.
Life is not only our skin. It is just an intersection of the time and
space. It is the love we can find in that long moment. Our lives are
moments in time, we are the points in space. We are the dust clouds
of the Universe. We are everywhere and nowhere. We can die if we
hate. We can live if we love. Help me Oria. I love Met and you, I
even love Kara. Give us a future."
Meri could not be sure
that Oria had heard her inner voice.
